Green Urban Renewal

"UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change said that building “infill homes”—that is, constructing new housing in underused parts of dense cities—is one of the best ways to combat climate change." (22.09.21,The Weekly Planet, a newsletter about climate change from The Atlantic.)

Even though we in southeastern Michigan are more spread out and not as dense urban use practitioners, we can benefit from this as well. As we see abandoned housing in our landscapes we can encourage more than just tearing them down. There are options for urban farming, newer more efficient housing or mixed use applications that benefit the community instead of danger filled eyesores!

Just think, we can give someone a place to live, ecofriendly and save carbon waste by using newer techniques and technology to heat, cool and build homes that make our communities more viable and vibrant at the same time! Let's act on this!
